Linear Expansion Apparatus, Gunthur (AVI-HT-1505)

It comprises of two cast iron pieces joined by three nickel plated rods carrying two sliding V-supports for a glass jacket having inlet and outlet tubes. One end piece is fitted with spherometer reading to 0.005 mm and other with contact screw at the other end. The glass jacket has both a brass and a copper rod each 500 x 7 mm (L x dia,) fitted through corks. A half turn of the jacket changes the rod in contact with the spherometer. A thermometer is attachable to any of rods by rubber bands. An electrical circuit is made through either rod to indicate the moment of contact of spherometer and centre tube by means of brass terminals fitted to the apparatus. Supplied with 3 metal rods of aluminium, brass and iron but without thermometer.
